Course Objectives
- Gain confidence in using a map to navigate a route and relish the walking experience
- Develop the ability to plan a route, and follow it safely and effectively through open moorland and countryside
- Learn how to use a compass and GPS navigation, particularly in poor visibility conditions
- Gain the confidence to explore paths, tracks, and discover new places

- Detailed and complex route planning
- Relating physical features to the map
- Utilising a compass – understanding when and how to use it
- Tactical navigation process, identifying mistakes, and relocation techniques
- Using a GPS device effectively
- Enhancing your environmental knowledge

Location
Starting from Riverside, or from Haytor or Postbridge information centers. Other locations on Dartmoor can be arranged upon request.
Duration
This is a full-day course on the moor, so please bring a packed lunch to enjoy during the break.
